Jinju Patisserie: Gourmet Bakery Delights in Portland

Food was amazing and the service was welcoming and friendly. This is a great morning stop.

I came at 845am on Sunday and was able to get a butter croissant, mushroom gruyere tart, ham and cheese croissant, chocolate croissant, and rocky road cookie. The croissants were still slightly warm and heaven to bite into. 5 stars for the croissants and cookies 4 stars for the cold case tart and mousse products 3 stars for scones and cakes

The Dubai chocolate thing has now been a craze for a little while now and of course my daughter very much wants to try one. I've never had the opportunity to go to JinJu Patisserie but have always wanted to. I mean, if you know about the whole James Beard award thing then you know that this is an amazing pastry shop. First off, get a croissant. They are just flakey, buttery and pretty much sinful. To be honest, anything you get will be wonderful. A cookie, a tart, the fancy desserts, the chocolate. Everything is going to be great. The Dubai chocolate bars live up to the hype. The chocolate is creamy and the pistachio crunch is sweet and nutty. Get one, or five. The chocolate croissant is loaded with a darker chocolate that was threaded throughout the whole thing and the mushroom and gruyere tart was umami, and flakey and salty and so good. There really is no excuse to not come here. It is a little speedy, but an extravegance every now and then is worth it. The staff seems to expect the photo taking at this point and we took a few. What we got: Berries & Cream, Lemon & Raspberry Tart, Dark Chocolate & Raspberry, Matcha & Yuzu, and the Coconut & Passionfruit cake. Also got the 16 piece bonbon box! If you're looking for a place where beauty and taste come together in perfect harmony, this pâtisserie is a must-visit. I'm absolutely in love with this location! Not only are the desserts visually stunning, but the flavors are nothing short of magnificent. Each bite is an experience. The textures and flavor combinations are always spot-on, complementing one another perfectly. The service here is always stellar too! This place never disappoints, and I can't wait to return to try more of their delicious creations!

It was busy when we went! The items are all gorgeous and delicious. It's pricey, but the product is so well done. Like wow. I wish I was local so I could go more often! The attention to detail, the taste, the combo of flavors it was all great. You can't go wrong here! The owner was there working behind the counter and was sooo nice. It was also great that she was there to answer questions, it seems like the other workers are still getting up to speed on the intricacies. My friend is gluten-free and it's kind of a bummer that there are no options here-- I know it's difficult but it would be nice in the future to have a couple options even if there was still some cross-contamination.

My bestie found this place and we checked it out. It's a small place and got crowded very quick. But they also helped us in a very timely manner so don't let a line discourage you. It's worth the wait. There are also picnic tables outside to enjoy your treats. Everything displayed looked very appetizing. You had baked goods, tarts, handmade chocolates and beverages. A little bit of everything. They also sold some swag and I plan to grab one upon my next visit. We ordered a cookie, a cake, a tart, 8 of their chocolates, and 2 hot beverages which were oh so yummie. The staff was super nice and helpful. It was such a great experience. I'm telling everyone about this place.

Pastries galore! Everything looked way too pretty to eat, but I wanted to try them all - it was so hard to choose! I ended up sticking with the tried and true: Ham & Gruyere Croissant: Its super flaky crust shattered with each bite. Light on the ham and cheese. Slightly bitter. Chocolate Croissant: The warm chocolate filling felt super comforting against the 38°F weather. Vanilla Cheesecake: Fluffy and creamy. Staff were speedy, pleasant, and efficient. There are a few picnic tables outside the little bakery to enjoy your goodies. Street parking is plentiful and easy. Be sure to make a quick pit stop here for a savory, flaky bite or a treat for your sweet tooth!

Food 4/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 3.5/5 This spot is closed Monday to Wednesday and only open Thursday to Sunday from 8am to 2pm, so plan your visit accordingly. I arrived right at 9am, and there was already a line forming, which shows just how popular it is. The inside is a bit cramped and no indoor seatings so we just ordered and ate outside. First of each pastry looks like a piece of art, and it's clear a lot of effort goes into decorating them, which justifies the price point. However, I found the visual appeal to be more impressive than the taste. I tried the Matcha Yuzu Berries, the Cream Coconut and Passion Fruit cake, a Chocolate Croissant, and a Rocky Road Cookie. The standout for me was the chocolate croissant! It was perfectly flaky and buttery, it was absolutely delicious with every bite. The cakes, on the other hand, were stunning in appearance but didn't quite leave a lasting impression flavor-wise. They weren't bad, but I was expecting a bit more given how gorgeous they looked. I also tried fig chocolate, it's a tiny treat, but packed with intense flavor. It was a pleasant surprise. Overall, this place definitely deserves the hype. The craftsmanship in the decorations alone is impressive, and while the flavors didn't completely blow me away, I'd still come back for the experience and the beautiful presentation of the desserts.

It's been a while since I last came here, what a line especially at 11am. I got their special which happened to be a passionfruit kouign amann and their butter croissant. The kouign amann was flaky and had a nice cream to passionfruit cream ratio and a passionfruit puree on top. Not to sweet, especially with the passionfruit. The butter croissant was flaky, and warm - came right out of the oven if anything. Very good. This is definitely a popular spot on the weekends, there is street parking or parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. They have other pastries, cakes and chocolates too. Their website is up to date on what they are selling.

Opens at 8:00 am today. We were here @8:30 a.m. ! It's so cold! There is free street parking available around the Patisserie. Just need to drive around the area. Another cold weather day where you can see your breath in the air. Another line to stand in because this place ranks number 1 on many lists of Portland's best. Today, I came here for the bonbons, made by award winning chocolatier Jin Caldwell. The last visit here I tried a few pieces of the bonbons and fell in love with the Yuzu bonbon. The bonbons are a bit pricey at $3.25 a piece. But so worth it if you're a fan of unique pieces of chocolate decadence. We also picked up a few freshly baked croissants! The croissants are flaky and full of layered goodness. Cookies are larger than your hand here! The meringue tarts are fantastic as well here!
